Community Service Opportunity!

So if you didn't know, the metals club is required to complete a certain number of community service hours (since we are an SGA funded club). This is a great opportunity to get involved in the Baltimore area and volunteer to help out in whatever way we can.

Friends of Baltimore Parks Day
Saturday, May 3rd
This is an event going on in a few parks in South and Southwest Baltimore. Activities will include gardening, watering, and general clean up. The group that sponsors this event will be giving out information about the environment and best practices for being "green."
Hopefully by this time the weather will be nice and this event will be simply a great day to be spent outside helping keep Baltimore parks looking good.

The more people who want to get involved, the better. Let me know if you're interested in volunteering!!

towson design collective - share your thoughts!

Next Monday, March 31st, at 5 PM in CA 2006 there will be a brainstorming session to discuss ideas for the Towson design collective (or whatever we want to call it).

What is the Towson design collective, you ask? That's where you come in. It can be anything you want it to be! This is a totally new endeavor that we are creating from the ground up, so everyone's feedback is welcome (and encouraged). As a starting point, some of our inspirations are SCAD's Working Class Studio and Droog Design.

This is a great opportunity for students, alumni, and faculty to help create a flagship program for Towson. Some come by on Monday at 5 to participate in a lively discussion!

(Can't make it - email your ideas to Megan at meauman(at)yahoo(dot)com)

On the Horizon

Mark your carefully-maintained calenders for March 27th at 6:00p.m. in CA 2015 (I think that's the number for the metals room other than 2006). We'll have our next meeting then.

As a reminder, particularly for those who weren't at the last meeting, we're going to try a few one-night sales that will coincidentally coincide with the nights of major performances. Thus, if you want to participate, go ahead an make work so that it can be ready on relatively short notice.

Also, several people have asked me about how I make some of my work with jump rings. Thus, I will be doing a short demonstration at the meeting listed above to explain my electric welder and some other specialized chain tools.
